Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw by Brentford, missing the chance to stretch their Premier League lead at the top. Manchester City’s 3-0 victory over Fulham earlier in the week had already trimmed the Gunners’ advantage to three points, but even a win in west London would only have restored a slim cushion.
The first half offered little encouragement for Arsenal fans. Despite an early effort from Gabriel following a corner, the Gunners failed to register a shot on target. Brentford, on the other hand, created the best opening when Igor Thiago’s 12-yard header tested David Raya, who produced a stunning save to keep Arsenal in the game.
The breakthrough came when Noni Madueke met Piero Hincapie’s dangerous cross with a firm header into the far corner, giving Arsenal a brief lead. Yet Brentford responded with determination. Keane Lewis-Potter had a chance to equalize from a corner but sent a free header wide, leaving the tie finely poised.
It was a night of missed opportunities for Arsenal, who struggled to assert control despite dominating possession. While they remain four points clear of Manchester City, the draw underlined the challenges of maintaining consistency in a season where every point matters.
