The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed sadness over the death of former Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, paying tribute to his contributions to public service and his efforts to promote dialogue and national unity.
The association said Uduaghan’s commitment to fostering understanding and building confidence during periods of heightened political tension remained an important part of his legacy in public service and nation building.
In a condolence statement issued on Monday, CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, extended the association’s sympathies to the deceased’s family, the Delta State Government and the people of the state, as well as others mourning his passing.
Okoh described Uduaghan’s death as a significant loss to his family and those who valued his contributions to the development of the country.
He also commended the former governor’s dedication to peaceful dialogue and efforts to strengthen relationships across different groups, noting that his commitment to preserving national unity deserved recognition.
“His commitment to dialogue, confidence building and the preservation of national unity remains worthy of commendation,” the CAN president said.
The association prayed for God to comfort the bereaved family and all those affected by the loss. Okoh also asked God to grant the former governor eternal rest.
