President Bola Tinubu has received praise for his recent directive to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, instructing the agency to vacate a court order that had frozen the accounts of the Osun State Government. This move is being hailed as a necessary step toward ensuring smooth governance in the state.
The commendation came from the Civil Society Coalition for Human Equality Initiative, a recognized platform that brings together various civil society and community-based organizations. The group’s Director-General, Kunle Yusuff, lauded the President’s intervention as timely and vital.
Yusuff made it clear that while the coalition remains fully supportive of the anti-corruption mandate held by the commission, there is a need to maintain the separation of governance from political maneuvering. He emphasized that if there are genuine suspicions of financial misconduct, the commission has every right to investigate, provided the process strictly follows legal channels and remains free from external political pressure.
Reports gathered that the coalition has previously partnered with the commission on several public enlightenment campaigns, aiming to foster a culture of integrity across the country. By speaking out on the Osun situation, the group reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with federal agencies to uphold transparency and the rule of law.
