Davido has responded warmly to a public show of support from his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, after missing out on a win at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
The singer was nominated alongside Burna Boy and Ayra Starr in the Best African Music Performance category but lost the award to South African star Tyla at the ceremony held on Sunday, February 1.
Shortly after the event, Governor Adeleke took to social media to share photos of Davido and his wife, Chioma, from the Grammys, expressing pride in his nephew’s global achievements despite the outcome. Davido replied with equal affection, reaffirming his respect and loyalty while striking a confident tone about moving forward.
The moment once again highlighted the close bond between the music star and the Osun governor. Davido has consistently shown public support for his uncle, from actively campaigning during the Osun governorship election to celebrating key milestones and development projects carried out under his administration.
That relationship has also translated into official recognition, with the Osun State Government previously appointing Davido as chairman of the newly established Osun Sports Trust Fund, a move that drew widespread attention.
Beyond family ties, Davido continues to earn admiration across different circles. Veteran media personality Patrick Doyle has praised his composure in the face of criticism, noting his willingness to accept correction and show respect to elders. Actress Shan George has also spoken openly about her admiration for the singer, citing personal encounters that deepened her loyalty to him.
Adding to the growing list of endorsements, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce once stirred conversation by suggesting Davido has the potential to one day govern Osun State, pointing to his influence, background, and natural political instincts.
Even without a Grammy win this year, Davido’s stature, support system, and forward momentum remain firmly intact. This is one setback, but the brand, the legacy, and the long game are still very much on track.
