Liverpool have reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign Uruguay international Ronald Araujo on loan.
The 27 year old defender is expected to complete the move this weekend, with the deal set to see him join the Premier League club on a straight loan arrangement.
Araujo still has a long term contract with Barcelona after renewing his deal last year, extending his stay at the Catalan club until 2031.
However, the defender endured a challenging campaign last season and was subsequently given an extended period away from the team.
The move to Liverpool could offer Araujo an opportunity to regain his confidence and form while competing in the Premier League.
Araujo joined Barcelona from Uruguayan club Boston River in 2018 and initially featured for the club’s reserve side before earning promotion to the senior team in 2019.
