Nollywood actress and producer Joy Tambou has been appointed Chief Protocol to the newly elected Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) President, Alhaji Abubarkar Yakub Sanusi. The inauguration of Tambou and other key members of the president’s executive team took place on January 29, 2026, in Abuja, officiated by outgoing AGN President, Chief Ejezie Emeka Rollas (OON).
Speaking after her appointment, an enthusiastic Tambou expressed her commitment to working closely with the new leadership. She extended her gratitude to President Sanusi, the guild’s secretary Ambassador Ifeoma Okeke, and the entire executive committee for entrusting her with the role. Tambou emphasized that her focus will be on fostering order, excellence, respect, and effective representation of the guild.
“In line with the vision of our president, my goal is to promote unity within the Actors Guild of Nigeria, strengthen collaboration among actors across the country, and support initiatives that enhance the welfare, professionalism, and global relevance of Nigerian actors,” she said. “I am committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure every actor feels recognized, valued, and empowered to thrive. This administration is about vision over division, service over status, and impact over noise.”
Tambou’s journey in Nollywood has been marked by versatility and dedication. She has produced and starred in numerous films, including Tattered, The Other Side, Tangled Heart, Caught on the Net, Bliss of Kamara, Unexpected Love, Palmwine Tapper, Seven Daughters, Expensive Bachelor, Drink My Tears, When a Child Cries, and 3 Days Burial, among others.
With her experience and drive, Joy Tambou is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the guild’s direction and ensuring that the voices of Nigerian actors are amplified both locally and internationally.
