Kasi Unveils West Africa’s First AI Ready Data Hub

Zoyols News
Kasi Cloud Datacenters has officially commissioned what is being described as West Africa’s first hyperscale ready and AI capable data centre campus in Lagos, marking a major step forward for Nigeria’s digital infrastructure sector.

The launch ceremony, held at the company’s Lekki campus, signals the transition of the facility known as Kasi LOS1 from construction into operational readiness. The project is expected to provide Nigerian businesses, financial institutions, and government agencies with a locally based alternative for cloud computing, artificial intelligence workloads, and data hosting services.

Located on nearly four hectares of land in the Maiyegun area of Lekki, the facility sits close to major subsea cable landing stations including Equiano and 2Africa, positioning it as a strategic connectivity hub for digital operations across the region. The campus has been designed to eventually scale up to about 100 megawatts of critical IT capacity, while the first phase, LOS1, is built to support advanced AI computing and enterprise cloud infrastructure with low latency for users within Nigeria.

The development comes at a time when Nigerian businesses reportedly spend hundreds of millions of dollars yearly on foreign cloud infrastructure hosted outside the country. Kasi says the project is intended to help retain more digital investment locally while supporting Nigeria’s National Cloud Policy, which encourages in country hosting of sensitive government and financial data.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kasi Cloud Datacenters, Johnson Agogbua, described the launch as a major moment for Africa’s digital future. According to him, the company was established on the belief that Africa deserves world class digital infrastructure capable of supporting the artificial intelligence era while keeping data and digital value within the continent.

The event was attended by several top government and business leaders, including Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who served as Special Guest of Honour. The Lagos governor noted the importance of infrastructure development in sustaining Lagos as a leading economic and technology hub in Nigeria. His administration had earlier pledged support for world class data centre investments in the state, a vision now reflected in the commissioning of the facility.

Also present at the ceremony was Aminu Umar-Sadiq of the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority, one of the project’s key investors. He described digital infrastructure as critical to innovation and long term economic growth, expressing confidence that the project would strengthen Nigeria’s technology ecosystem.

The Federal Government was also represented at the event, highlighting growing recognition of digital infrastructure as a central part of Nigeria’s economic diversification plans and technology driven development strategy.

According to the company, the Lekki campus has been developed to global hyperscale standards with carrier neutral connectivity, direct power infrastructure, and hybrid energy systems combining gas, solar, and battery storage solutions. The facility is also designed to align with Nigerian data protection regulations and international operational standards.

Following the commissioning ceremony, the campus will move into phased operational activities, including systems integration and customer onboarding, as the company prepares for full commercial rollout.
