Ogun Police Summon JustAdetoun Over Viral Claims Against Governor

Zoyols Blog

The Ogun State Police Command has officially extended an invitation to the well-known social critic and activist, Adetoun Onajobi, popularly referred to as JustAdetoun. The summons comes on the heels of several viral videos where she allegedly made defamatory statements against the person and office of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

According to updates confirmed by Reports, the Police Public Relations Officer, Boluwatife Babaseyi, stated that while the activist has been asked to report for questioning, her legal team has already been in communication with the authorities. The police are currently waiting for her to honor the invitation, and the spokesperson promised to provide further updates as the situation develops.

The friction between the activist and the state government intensified following a tragic road accident in December 2025 involving professional boxer Anthony Joshua. The former heavyweight champion lost two close friends and trainers when their vehicle crashed into a stationary truck along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. In her social media posts, Adetoun criticized the Ogun State government’s response to the emergency, claiming that the victims were neglected and had to rely on the Lagos State government for medical support.

Beyond the specific incident involving the boxing star, Adetoun leveled serious accusations against the governor’s administration. She claimed that the state lacks functional ambulances, sharing her personal frustration from handling hundreds of cases where she felt state resources were non-existent. However, her commentary went beyond administrative failures, as she used her platform to make deeply personal and financial allegations against Governor Abiodun, ranging from claims of fund embezzlement to the illegal seizure of property.

The activist, who is originally from Ogun State, has built a significant following for her outspoken nature, but her latest series of clips has pushed the boundaries of social criticism into a legal confrontation. As the public watches closely, the main question remains whether these claims will be addressed as a matter of free speech or if they will lead to a formal prosecution for defamation.
