We Won’t Fight Intimidation with Violence – Kwankwasiyya

Zoyols News
The Kwankwasiyya Movement has made it clear that it will rely strictly on legal and constitutional avenues to protect its members and local citizens from what it characterizes as ongoing intimidation and silencing tactics in Kano State.
Speaking through a formal statement issued by its spokesperson, Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, the movement emphasized that supporters will not retaliate with violence or resort to self-help, regardless of the provocations or alleged harassment faced by opposition voices in the region. Instead, the group intends to channel its grievances through petitions, judicial reviews, and proper legal representation.
This development follows recent alarm raised by international human rights observers regarding the arbitrary arrest, detention, and intimidation of critics speaking out against the Kano State Government. According to the movement, these independent observations validate earlier warnings about a diminishing democratic space within the state.
Particular attention was drawn to the prolonged detention of Abba Ibrahim Kofar Nasarawa, widely known as Aiha K Nass, who has remained behind bars since August. The group noted that although a Shari’a Court in the Ungogo Division eventually granted him bail following an initial rejection, the attached conditions have proven nearly impossible to fulfill. Specifically, the requirement to produce two serving permanent secretaries alongside a Kano State Government employee as sureties has effectively kept him locked up.
In response to these judicial hurdles, Zoyols News gathered that the movement has already escalated the matter by filing formal petitions with the Chief Judge of Kano State and the State Judicial Service Commission, seeking a thorough review of the court proceedings.
Reiterating its stance, the leadership underscored that peace and the rule of law remain non-negotiable pillars for the group. At the same time, the movement urged the state government and relevant security institutions to respect constitutionally guaranteed freedoms of expression and association for all residents.
