2027: APC Puts Final Touches to Nationwide Campaign Plan

Zoyols News

The All Progressives Congress is putting the finishing touches to its nationwide campaign strategy ahead of the official commencement of campaigns for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.

The party said it would soon release a detailed campaign programme after consultations with key stakeholders and candidates across the country.

APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, disclosed this on Monday in Abuja after a lengthy meeting of the party’s National Working Committee.

Morka acknowledged the August 19, 2026 date set by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the commencement of campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly elections. However, he explained that the date only opens the legal campaign window and does not require political parties to begin rallies on that exact day.

He said parties were prohibited from campaigning before the date fixed by the electoral commission, but were free to determine when and how they would formally launch their campaigns after the window opened.

According to him, the APC is taking its time to develop a coordinated and comprehensive nationwide programme that will accommodate the interests of its candidates and other stakeholders.

The campaign commencement date is part of the revised timetable for the 2027 General Election released by INEC. Under the schedule, campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly elections are permitted to begin on August 19, 2026, while campaigns for governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections are scheduled to commence on September 9, 2026.

The 2027 general elections are scheduled to take place on January 16, 2027, making the coming weeks a critical period for political parties as they prepare to take their campaigns to voters across the country.
