In a major political development ahead of the 2027 general elections, Dr. Olajide Adediran, the leader of the Lagos4Lagos Movement better known as Jandor, has officially pulled out of the Lagos State governorship race. His withdrawal from the contest under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform marks a significant shift in the state’s political dynamics.
The announcement was made on Thursday during an emotional briefing at Liberty House, the Adeniyi Jones Secretariat in Ikeja. Addressing a crowd of supporters, party leaders, and the media, Adediran explained that his decision was guided by recent high-level shifts within the party’s leadership structure.
The turning point came following a public endorsement by President Bola Tinubu for the current Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat. Adediran noted that the landscape of the race changed almost immediately after he had purchased his nomination forms, specifically following meetings between the presidency and the state’s top leadership.
“I have always maintained that I would align with the direction set by the President,” Adediran stated during the briefing. He explained that once the presidency’s preference for Dr. Hamzat became clear, he felt it was necessary to step aside in the interest of party cohesion and the President’s vision for the state.
This move clears a significant path within the APC as the party prepares for the 2027 polls. While Jandor’s withdrawal may come as a surprise to many who have followed his journey with the Lagos4Lagos Movement, he emphasized that his loyalty to the party’s broader objectives remains a priority.
