In a significant update for Abuja residents, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has confirmed that the 10-kilometre access road leading to the Renewed Hope City in Karsana is on track for completion this May. The Minister shared this optimistic timeline during a project inspection on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, expressing a high level of confidence in the pace and quality of the ongoing work.
While walking the site, Wike noted his pleasant surprise at the design of the project, describing it as a ring road that will provide essential connectivity for the massive housing development. He mentioned that based on the current progress, he is certain the contractors will meet the May–June deadline. This particular stretch is seen as a lifeline for the Renewed Hope City, ensuring that the thousands of planned housing units are easily accessible for future residents.
Beyond the Karsana project, the Minister also visited the newly finished eight-lane Obafemi Awolowo Way, also known as Arterial Road N5. This major infrastructure piece links the Life Camp area with Dape District and Karmo, significantly easing the traffic burden for commuters in those axes. Wike pointed out that the road is already equipped with streetlights and is essentially ready, with only minor finishing touches on the walkways expected to be wrapped up within three weeks.
These projects are being prioritized for official inauguration by President Bola Tinubu during the upcoming third anniversary of his administration. Wike emphasized that these routine inspections are vital to ensuring that contractors do not cut corners and that every naira spent translates into durable infrastructure for the people.
To keep the momentum going, the Minister reassured contractors that the FCT Administration remains committed to providing the necessary funding. He stressed that the goal is not just to start projects, but to see them through to completion on schedule, providing tangible proof of the “Renewed Hope” agenda in the nation’s capital.
