Rising actor and producer Demola Yusuf has celebrated the nomination of Kukoyi, a 2025 Africa Magic Yoruba series, for Best Indigenous MNET Original Series at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Produced by David Akande, Kukoyi secured its spot alongside titles like Smart Video, Inimba, Undugu, Out N’ About (Harar), Kampala Creme, The Chocolate Empire, and Mgbuka. The winners will be revealed at the grand finale on May 9, 2026, in Lagos.
Yusuf, who stars in Kukoyi and also served as Production Coordinator, highlighted the significance of the recognition. Having previously featured in MNET originals including Iboju, and with his debut film Alaise having won Best Indigenous Language Movie or TV Series (Yoruba) at AMVCA 2022, Yusuf expressed pride in the team’s achievement.
“I am thrilled about this nomination. It reflects what can be accomplished through dedication, teamwork, and sacrifice,” he said. “It’s rewarding to see Kukoyi recognized at such a high standard of professional excellence. This nomination is truly deserved. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew.”
The accolade adds to Yusuf’s growing reputation as a key figure in Nigeria’s indigenous-language entertainment scene.
