Adams Shines as Sevilla Crushes Barcelona 4–1

zoyolsblog

Super Eagles striker Akor Adams delivered a standout performance as Sevilla dismantled Barcelona 4–1 at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, lighting up a night that fans of Los Nervionenses won’t soon forget.

Adams put the finishing touch on Sevilla’s dominant display, netting the fourth goal in stoppage time to seal a statement victory over the defending La Liga champions. His fellow Nigerian, Chidera Ejuke, also featured as Sevilla continued their steady climb up the league standings.

For Barcelona, it was a nightmare they couldn’t wake up from — their first La Liga defeat of the season and a painful follow-up to their midweek loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League. The cracks in Xavi’s side were brutally exposed, and the pressure from their supporters is now starting to mount.

Ronald Araujo, one of the few changes from that European defeat, found himself at the center of controversy early on. A foul on Isaac Romero inside the box was confirmed by VAR, gifting Sevilla a penalty that Alexis Sanchez confidently buried against his former club.

Sevilla refused to take their foot off the gas. Isaac Romero, who had already missed two good chances, finally found the net in the 37th minute after being set up perfectly by Ruben Vargas to double the lead.

Barcelona briefly found a lifeline before halftime. Pedri floated in a pinpoint cross, and Marcus Rashford met it with a crisp volley to score his first La Liga goal, sparking hopes of a comeback.

Those hopes were dashed in the second half. The Catalans had a golden opportunity to equalize when Alejandro Balde was brought down in the box by Adnan Januzaj, but Robert Lewandowski’s penalty went agonizingly wide, triggering roars from the home fans.

Sevilla made sure there would be no late drama. In the 90th minute, Jose Angel Carmona fired low past Wojciech Szczesny to make it three. Moments later, Akor Adams capped the night in style, smashing home the fourth to seal an emphatic 4–1 triumph for Sevilla.

The result sends a clear message across Spain — Sevilla are back in business, while Barcelona face serious questions about their form and focus. As reported by Zoyols Blog, Adams’ goal and overall performance once again underline his growing reputation as one of Nigeria’s brightest exports in European football.
