Speaking with visible resolve, the Accord Party candidate maintained that the historical grit of Osun residents will once again rise to the occasion, ensuring that outside interference fails to subvert the collective will of the people at the polls.
The governor’s fiery stance follows a wave of anxiety sweeping through the state’s political landscape. This atmosphere of unease was dramatically amplified when the state police command executed a raid on the Osogbo residence of the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaiye, alongside five others. Police authorities claimed to have recovered nearly five million naira in cash, along with Permanent Voter Cards and a voter register, alleging these items were tied to vote-buying schemes.
The swift police action immediately triggered a fierce pushback. Representatives from the state government and the Adeleke Campaign Organisation strongly condemned the operation, labeling it a witch-hunt designed to cripple the opposition. They alleged that security operatives broke into private homes without proper warrants and detained numerous party supporters unlawfully. In stark contrast, police headquarters dismissed the accusations as baseless, maintaining that only six individuals were picked up based on actionable intelligence and that every protocol was strictly observed within the bounds of the law.
Amidst this high-stakes friction, Governor Adeleke remains unfazed, leaning heavily on his administration’s track record as his strongest campaign asset.
