Nollywood actor Adeniyi Johnson has shared an emotional tribute to his late sister, Aderonke, after achieving one of the promises he made to her following her passing.
The actor took to social media to celebrate the graduation of his late sister’s daughter, Blessing Olamide Babalola. Accompanying the heartfelt message was a video showing the touching moment he surprised his niece at her school during the special occasion.
Reflecting on the painful loss, Adeniyi recalled that his sister passed away on May 25, 2018. He admitted that writing about the milestone filled him with deep emotions, describing the moment as one marked by tears and gratitude.
According to the actor, while laying his sister to rest, he made several solemn promises regarding the wellbeing and future of her children. Seeing Blessing complete her education, he said, was a significant step towards fulfilling those commitments.
Adeniyi expressed pride in his niece’s accomplishment, noting that although the day came with mixed emotions, he believes his sister is smiling from heaven as she watches her daughter succeed.
He gave thanks to God for making the achievement possible and acknowledged the support of those who stood by the family throughout the journey. Special appreciation was extended to his mother, whom he praised for her unwavering strength, prayers and commitment to instilling godly values in the children.
The actor also expressed gratitude to his wife, fellow actress Seyi Edun, for her support and encouragement. He thanked his friends and well wishers who have remained part of the family’s story over the years.
Adeniyi reserved special words for a close friend whom he contacted at short notice to join in celebrating what he described as “our daughter’s day.” He prayed for God’s blessings upon him and expressed hope that he would one day celebrate similar milestones in his friend’s family.
Overflowing with joy, the actor commended Blessing for making the family proud through her determination and dedication to her studies. He described the moment as a truly proud father figure experience and offered prayers that parents everywhere would witness the same kind of happiness and even greater blessings in their own families.
The touching post also brought back memories of an earlier emotional reflection shared by Adeniyi after he and his wife welcomed their twins following years of waiting. At the time, he lamented that his late sister was not alive to witness the arrival of the children she had fervently prayed for.
He had expressed the belief that Aderonke would have been overjoyed by the birth of the twins and would have showered them with endless love and affection.
For Adeniyi, his niece’s graduation represents more than an academic achievement. It stands as a fulfilment of a promise made out of love, a testament to family bonds that transcend loss and a reminder that even in the face of grief, hope and dedication can create moments worth celebrating.
