The historic city of Accra is preparing to host a significant gathering of the continent’s finest minds as the 4th edition of the African Heritage Awards (AFRIHeritage-26) approaches. Scheduled for April 11 at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel, the event will shine a spotlight on distinguished global personalities and top-tier brands that have left an indelible mark on the African story.

Following successful outings in Rwanda, Nigeria, and Morocco, the awards train moves to Ghana this year. The platform remains dedicated to celebrating those who have excelled in leadership, philanthropy, business, and social impact, both within the continent and across the diaspora.

The list of nominees for the 2026 edition is nothing short of stellar. Leading the pack is Dr. Akinwumi A. Adesina, the former President of the African Development Bank Group. He is joined by other heavyweights such as Her Excellency Dame Marcella Liburd, the Governor-General of Saint Kitts and Nevis; Antoinette Monsio Sayeh, the former Deputy Managing Director of the IMF; and Professor Lesley Lokko, the visionary founder of the African Futures Institute.

Mr. Moses Siloko Siasia, the Chairman and CEO of the organizing body, noted that the Accra edition is expected to draw over 1,000 attendees. This crowd will include a mix of policymakers, business icons, and creative leaders. The goal, he explained, is to foster a culture of excellence and tell the true African story while pushing the continent toward its full potential.

The selection process for these awards is famously rigorous. Reports gathered that a multidisciplinary committee evaluated each nominee based on measurable impact, consistency, and how well they project Africa’s image on the world stage. It is often described as the highest form of recognition where Africans themselves take the lead in honoring their own.

However, the event is about more than just trophies and speeches. The 2026 gathering will feature high-level strategic networking and panel sessions. These discussions will bring together investors and thought leaders to chart practical paths for Africa’s advancement and shared prosperity. It is designed to be a hub for cross-border collaboration and a space where new partnerships are born.

Attendance for this prestigious event is strictly by invitation or ticket purchase. For those looking to be part of this grand celebration of African heritage and innovation, more details can be found on the official event website. www.afriheritageawards.com
