The Association of Energy Correspondents, Abuja has congratulated Abdulrazaq Isa and Bala Wunti on their new roles as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the World Energy Council Nigeria.
The association welcomed the appointments, noting that the board’s mix of experience in energy, finance, regulation and academia provides a solid base for the council’s work. It highlighted Isa’s role in advancing local refining and industrial growth, saying his leadership and vision make him well placed to guide the body.
Wunti’s appointment was also praised, with AECAF citing his over thirty years in the energy sector and strong background in policy, strategy and reform as valuable assets for the council.
Nigeria’s return to the World Energy Council was described as both timely and important. The association said the move would allow the country to take part in global talks on energy security, affordability and the shift to cleaner energy while also helping attract investment and strengthen partnerships.
AECAF expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for supporting the country’s rejoining and said it looks forward to working with the new leadership. The association pledged to keep supporting clear public discussion on energy policies and developments that can secure Nigeria’s energy future.
