Nigerian hurdler Tobi Amusan produced a standout performance on Sunday as she claimed her first Diamond League win of the 2026 season, taking victory in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Meeting International Mohammed VI in Rabat.
The 29 year old world record holder stormed to the finish line in 12.28 seconds, matching her season best and setting a new meeting record in the process. Her time also erased the previous record of 12.45 seconds, which she had set at the same venue in 2025.
Running under a legal tailwind of +1.2 m/s, Amusan controlled the race from start to finish, leaving a strong field to chase. Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton finished second in 12.40 seconds, while the Netherlands’ Nadine Visser came in third with 12.47 seconds.
The win marks an important step in Amusan’s 2026 Diamond League journey. She opened her season with a third place finish in Shanghai, clocking 12.41 seconds, before improving to 12.28 seconds for a second place finish in Xiamen.
Her latest triumph in Rabat not only secures maximum points on the Diamond League circuit but also reinforces her position as one of the leading names to watch ahead of major international championships later in the year.
A three time Diamond League champion, Amusan previously dominated the series with overall titles in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Her recent form suggests a strong return to top level performance as the outdoor season gathers momentum.
