The Anambra State Executive Council has approved the establishment of the Anambra Development and Investment Corporation with an authorised capital of 200 billion naira as part of efforts to strengthen investment and accelerate economic growth across the state.
The state government will provide 30 percent of the corporation’s capital, while the remaining investment is expected to come through partnerships with private investors.
Speaking after the Executive Council meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Law Mefor, disclosed that the government had also approved the transfer of selected strategic state assets to the newly created corporation.
According to him, the Anambra Development and Investment Corporation will soon introduce a public private partnership programme designed to attract both local and international investors while creating new opportunities for development financing.
Mefor explained that the corporation would immediately begin operating as an attractive investment platform for individuals and corporate organisations seeking to invest in the state’s economy.
The Executive Council also gave approval for the commencement of the second edition of the Code Anambra Talents Mastery programme under the Solution Innovation District after the successful completion of the first cohort.
He noted that the decision reflects the government’s confidence in the growing number of talented young people in the technology sector and the increasing global demand for digital skills and innovation.
The Solution Innovation District remains one of the flagship technology initiatives of the administration of Chukwuma Soludo. The programme focuses on training, mentoring and supporting innovators, startup businesses, technology companies and entrepreneurs to develop practical solutions that will drive economic and technological progress within the state.
The commissioner also announced that the government had reaffirmed the existing state of emergency on environmental protection in response to the growing challenge of environmental degradation across Anambra.
As part of measures to address the situation, a statewide environmental sanitation exercise has been scheduled for Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. During the exercise, residents, businesses and communities across the state are expected to observe temporary restrictions while sanitation activities take place.
He explained that the exercise will also mark the beginning of a statewide campaign for clearing blocked drainage channels and removing waste as part of broader efforts to reduce the risk of flooding.
In another major decision, the Executive Council approved the release of 315,460,777.41 naira for the restoration of electricity to parts of Uli community in Ihiala Local Government Area, as well as the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Chinweoke Mbadinuju Campus located in Uli.
Zoyols News reports that the approvals form part of the Anambra State Government’s broader efforts to improve infrastructure, strengthen the investment climate, promote technology driven development and enhance public services across the state.
