Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has opened up about a moment she says changed her outlook on life after her recent encounter with the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre and her brief stay at the Suleja Correctional Centre.
Zoyols gathered that the actress was arrested in Abuja over a cybercrime matter linked to fellow actress Mercy Johnson. She was later released from the correctional facility in Niger State.
Not long after regaining her freedom, Angela returned to the centre, this time carrying food items, medical supplies and other welfare materials. On her Instagram page, she shared photos and videos from the visit, explaining that her time there opened her eyes in ways she did not expect.
According to her, the experience challenged the common belief that correctional centres are only defined by hardship and cruelty. She said the period taught her lessons about strength, hope and humanity, lessons she believes she will carry for a long time.
What moved her the most were the children born behind bars. Some of their mothers were already pregnant before they were incarcerated, and the babies now live within the walls of the facility. Angela revealed that many of them lacked adequate medication and proper welfare support. She said once she became aware of their situation, she felt compelled to step in.
She described giving as a personal calling, something she does from her own resources and foundation. For her, it is not about publicity but about leaving a mark of kindness wherever she finds herself. She expressed gratitude to God for what she believes was a divine opportunity to understand, empathise and serve, adding that even the smallest act of compassion can make a difference.
Angela also encouraged her followers to see generosity as a lifestyle, saying it transforms both the giver and the receiver.
Away from her visit to the correctional centre, the actress has continued to make headlines over her long-running feud with Mercy Johnson. For years, Angela has publicly criticised her colleague for reasons she has not fully disclosed.
Last year, during an Instagram live session, she claimed she had forgiven Mercy after hearing reports that the actress was unwell. However, she urged her to seek forgiveness from those she may have offended and to be sincere in her public expressions of faith.
Responding to the claims, Regina Daniels dismissed Angela’s comments on her Instagram story and advised Mercy against offering forgiveness.
As tensions escalated, Angela revealed she had unfollowed Regina, who is widely known as Mercy Johnson’s goddaughter, along with others she accused of working against her. She insisted she could not be silenced, either physically or spiritually, and maintained that she remains unshaken despite the controversy surrounding her.
