The Kano politician explained that the unusual appearance of his tongue was caused by a blue coloured candy he had eaten and not by the use of Rohypnol or any banned substance as widely alleged online.
Reacting to the growing controversy, Doguwa insisted that the claims were part of an attempt by political opponents to damage his image ahead of the 2027 elections. He blamed what he described as enemies and the work of the devil for the rumours making rounds.
Despite his explanation, many social media users remained unconvinced, with several mocking his defence and questioning the credibility of the “blue candy” explanation.
Some online commenters sarcastically repeated his statement while suggesting the excuse sounded too convenient to believe. Others went as far as demanding that he undergo a drug test to clear public doubts once and for all.
However, a few people defended the lawmaker, arguing that certain sweets and candies, including blue flavoured mint products, can easily stain the tongue and may have been responsible for the appearance seen in the viral video.
The incident has continued to generate conversations online, adding an unexpected twist to the ongoing political activities as parties across the country intensify preparations and candidate selections ahead of the next general elections.
