The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has officially confirmed Obafemi Hamzat as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

The announcement was made on Thursday during the party’s governorship primary held at the APC Secretariat in Acme, Ogba, where party members, leaders, and supporters gathered for the exercise.

Zoyols News gathered that the result was declared by the Chairman of the APC National Governorship Election Committee, retired General Jon Temlong, in the presence of top party figures including Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other influential stakeholders within the party.

Among those present at the venue were Senator Ganiyu Solomon, former Deputy Governor Femi Pedro, local government chairmen, members of the Lagos State Executive Council, lawmakers, and several APC loyalists.

According to the electoral committee, Hamzat secured a massive victory with 657,917 votes from the 657,974 accredited votes recorded during the exercise. His opponent, Lanre Jim-Kamal, reportedly received one vote, while another aspirant, Samuel Ajose, withdrew from the race before voting commenced.

While announcing the outcome, Temlong stated that Hamzat had satisfied all constitutional requirements and guidelines of the party and was therefore returned as the APC governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

In his acceptance speech, Hamzat expressed appreciation to party leaders, delegates, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him. He also specially acknowledged Governor Sanwo-Olu for his support throughout the process.
