Juan Manuel Medina, Newell’s first vice president, described the project as “a vision that goes beyond the club,” emphasizing its potential significance for the region and the nation’s football culture.
Messi, an eight-time Ballon d’Or winner and two-time MLS Most Valuable Player, currently plays for Inter Miami. He signed a contract extension with the defending MLS Cup champions in October, keeping him in the United States through 2028. Despite that commitment, speculation about a possible homecoming continues to excite fans in Argentina, where the superstar began his legendary career.
