Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Spanish forward Ferran Torres. The deal, which will see the 26-year-old make a move to the French capital on a five-year contract, is valued at nearly 50 million euros, or roughly 57 million dollars.
Sources at the Camp Nou indicate that the transfer process is now entering its final phase. With the primary terms settled between the two European powerhouses, the completion of administrative paperwork and the mandatory medical examination are expected to be mere formalities.
This agreement follows a period of negotiation during which the Spanish champions initially turned down a 40 million euro bid earlier this week. The urgency to finalise the deal was influenced by the fact that Torres had only one year remaining on his current contract.
Since Hansi Flick assumed control in the summer of 2024, Torres has largely served as an understudy to Robert Lewandowski, frequently proving his worth as a decisive impact substitute. The forward, who developed through the youth ranks at Valencia before moving from Manchester City in 2021 for a fee exceeding 55 million euros, has maintained a strong record of 40 goals in 94 appearances over the past two seasons. His profile recently soared to new heights when he secured his place in football history by scoring the winning goal in extra time during the World Cup final against Argentina last month, clinching a second global title for Spain.
According to Zoyols News, the departure of Torres adds a new layer of complexity to the squad planning at Barcelona. With the exits of both Lewandowski and Marcus Rashford, manager Hansi Flick is actively looking to reinforce his attacking options. The club has already sought to bolster its front line by securing England international Anthony Gordon from Newcastle and Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund.
