Opeyemi Ayanwale, popularly known as Imisi, winner of Big Brother Naija Season 10, has announced her plans to establish a Non-Governmental Organisation dedicated to supporting the girl child. The revelation came shortly after she received an additional N2 million cheque from BetKing in Lagos, awarded for a competition she won while in the BBNaija house.
Imisi described the gesture as both inspiring and deeply humbling. Reflecting on her own childhood, she shared that her experiences were dramatic and challenging, fueling her desire to create opportunities for young girls facing similar struggles.
“I am overwhelmed; I feel happy, excited, and grateful. Growing up as a girl was not easy for me. That experience has always inspired me, and I really want to do something meaningful for the girl child. It is still early days, and the idea feels like a dream, but I am committed to making it happen,” she said.
Before joining BBNaija, Imisi had already been pursuing a career in acting, but she credited the reality show for significantly raising her public profile. “I have been an actress for a while, but Big Brother gave me exposure on a whole new level. I am really grateful for that,” she added.
At the cheque presentation, BetKing’s Head of Marketing, Nengi Akinola, explained that the prize was part of the company’s effort to reward housemates while showcasing its exclusive games to a wider audience. She highlighted new offerings such as Danfo Lagos, a game inspired by local transportation, JJ Ball X in collaboration with football legend Jay Jay Okocha, and Film House, which challenges players to complete tasks within a set time.
“Big Brother provided us the perfect platform to reach entertainment audiences and showcase our exclusive games. This was our first collaboration with the show, and we are currently evaluating its impact to guide our plans for the future,” Akinola said.
With her growing influence and platform, Imisi’s plan to support the girl child through an NGO promises to extend her impact beyond entertainment, offering hope and opportunities for young girls across the country.
