The Benin Asaba Expressway Concession Company Limited has appointed infrastructure and Public Private Partnership specialist Dr. Emmanuel Onwodi as its new Chief Operating Officer.
The appointment comes as the company moves forward with the development and management of the Benin Asaba highway corridor, one of the major road infrastructure projects connecting the two cities.
Onwodi is a chartered accountant and infrastructure finance specialist with more than 25 years of professional experience. His career has covered infrastructure development, concession management, project finance, risk management, transport and logistics.
He also previously served as a senior official of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission, giving him extensive experience in managing complex infrastructure projects and public private partnerships.
In his new position, Onwodi will oversee key aspects of the concession’s operational activities. His responsibilities will include supporting project delivery, coordinating stakeholders and helping implement the company’s long term plans for the expressway.
Commenting on his appointment, Onwodi said infrastructure plays an important role in turning development plans into lasting economic value. He stressed the need for balanced risk, transparent partnerships and effective execution in ensuring that concession projects deliver meaningful benefits to the public.
His mandate will also involve monitoring project progress, promoting compliance with contractual and operational requirements and strengthening relationships with stakeholders involved in the project.
The company said the appointment further strengthens its leadership team and reflects its commitment to putting the professional and technical expertise needed to deliver the expressway to the expected standards in place.
