Biola Bayo defends Shanko Rasheed’s wife amid intense online backlash

Nollywood actress Biola Bayo has spoken out against the harsh backlash she encountered following a recent, highly emotional interview with Adeyemi Kafayat, the wife of singer Shanko Rasheed. The podcast session, which delved into the couple’s deeply personal and painful domestic struggles, has triggered a wave of intense scrutiny online, much of which has been directed at the interviewer herself.

During the interview, Kafayat alleged that the singer had accused her of being responsible for the tragic death of their son. According to her account, the situation escalated after the child’s passing, leading the singer to take custody of their remaining children. The distraught mother claimed she had been kept in the dark regarding their location for over a week, a revelation that moved many listeners.

However, not all reactions to the interview were sympathetic. Biola Bayo took to her Instagram page to share screenshots of the vitriolic comments she received from viewers. She expressed her profound disappointment, particularly noting that many of the most cutting remarks came from fellow women. She urged the public to exercise caution before rushing to judgment, reminding them that a short social media snippet rarely captures the full context of such a complex and traumatic story.

The backdrop to this controversy is a turbulent period for the couple. Following the loss of their son, Kafayat had previously shared videos alleging that the singer abandoned her and their three children while she was unwell. She also claimed that the singer had misused funds she secured through a loan for their rent before leaving the family behind.

Biola Bayo is no stranger to the pressures of public scrutiny regarding one’s private life. Last year, she shared her own difficult news, announcing her separation from her husband and her commitment to peaceful co-parenting. At the time, she candidly admitted that while she spent much of her public life bringing joy to others, she had spent many nights in private tears. As Reports observed, she faced similar trolling after that announcement, and she consistently reminds her audience that celebrities are human beings dealing with real-world struggles.

In response to those who mocked her personal journey, the actress has often pushed back, stating that she chose to be transparent about her marriage only to reclaim her own narrative. She continues to advocate for empathy in online discourse, frequently calling on netizens to be kinder to one another, as the reality behind closed doors is often far more nuanced than what is presented on screen.
