Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has returned to Bayer Leverkusen to continue his recovery process following a successful knee surgery.
The 25-year-old Nigerian forward, who has been on loan at Werder Bremen, underwent the procedure on January 10 after struggling with persistent issues in his right knee. The injury had troubled him for months and significantly limited his involvement since arriving in Bremen earlier in the season.
With the discomfort refusing to ease, both clubs agreed that surgery was the best option to safeguard his long-term fitness. While the operation went well, Boniface is expected to be sidelined for several months, ruling him out for the remainder of the 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign.
His return to Leverkusen marks the next phase of his rehabilitation, as he focuses fully on recovery after an injury-hit spell that curtailed his impact at Werder Bremen.
