Nigerian superstar Burna Boy came close but could not clinch the Best Global Music Album at the 2026 Grammy Awards. His album, No Sign of Weakness, was edged out by Brazilian legends Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia, who claimed the award with Caetano e Bethânia Ao Vivo.
The competition in the category was fierce, with entries from Siddhant Bhatia (Sounds Of Kumbha), Youssou N’Dour (Éclairer le monde – Light the World), Shakti (Mind Explosion – 50th Anniversary Tour Live), Anoushka Shankar featuring Alam Khan & Sarathy (Chapter III: We Return to Light), and Korwar, highlighting the global diversity of music recognized at the ceremony.
This marks another tough night for Burna Boy, following his earlier miss in the Best African Music Performance category, where South African sensation Tyla triumphed with Push 2 Start, beating Burna Boy, Davido, and Ayra Starr. Despite the setback, Burna Boy’s influence on the international music stage remains undeniable, further cementing his role as one of Africa’s most prominent musical exports.
