Renowned actress and business mogul Carolyna Hutchings has added another prestigious feather to her cap, receiving the Award for Excellence in Creative Arts and Enterprise Achievement. The honor was bestowed upon her during the 2026 She Boss Global Retreat, a high-level gathering held in the opulent setting of Doha, Qatar. As the CEO of Hutchings Limited, the recognition highlights her significant impact on the African real estate and construction industries, alongside her tireless work in fostering economic empowerment across borders.

The retreat, a collaborative effort between Glitz Africa and the Qatari Businesswomen Association, served as a meeting point for some of Africa’s most influential female leaders. Among the stars of the evening was media entrepreneur Toyosi Etim-Effiong, who was honored for her excellence in marketing and media solutions. The presence of these women at the Marsa Malaz Kempinski on The Pearl Doha underscores the growing influence of Nigerian professionals in the global corporate and creative landscape.

During her address to an audience of C-suite executives and fellow founders, Dr. Hutchings spoke passionately about the importance of brand identity under the theme of trade and investment. She cautioned African business owners against the dangers of losing their voice as they scale internationally. She emphasized that while a brand’s expression may change over time, its core identity must remain firm. She argued that for African brands to truly thrive globally, they must build systems that prevent their stories from being misinterpreted or “translated incorrectly” by outside forces.

One of the most talked-after moments of the event was a deep dive into what Hutchings calls her “Filter” philosophy for business. Speaking during a panel discussion, she explained that successful entrepreneurs should treat trends as signals rather than instructions. Her approach is simple: every business move must be filtered through a lens of long-term trust. If a decision risks eroding a company’s identity for the sake of a quick win, it should be discarded. This focus on depth over temporary attention resonated strongly with the diverse group of professionals in attendance, which included the likes of Juliet Ibrahim and Kafayat Shafau.

The 2026 retreat was more than just an awards ceremony; it served as a strategic bridge between African innovation and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) markets. Observers noted that the participation of leaders like Hutchings points toward a new era where Nigerian-led companies are actively seeking to lead, rather than just participate, in the global economy. By aligning African values with the high standards expected in markets like Doha, Hutchings believes African brands can set the pace for international enterprise. The event wrapped up with a celebratory gala, cementing new partnerships between African visionaries and their Middle Eastern counterparts.
