Diddy calls new Netflix docuseries a shameful attack

ZoyolsBLog

Sean Combs has strongly criticised the Netflix production Sean Combs The Reckoning, describing it as a shameful attack built on material he insists was never meant for public release. The four part series, which debuted globally on December 2, turns a sharp spotlight on the mogul’s rise, influence, and the legal troubles that now threaten to overshadow his legacy.

In a statement shared with Zoyols Blog, Combs’s spokesperson accused the platform of misusing private recordings he has gathered since his teenage years. According to the statement, Netflix relied on footage that was obtained without permission, including sensitive conversations with his legal team. Combs argues that the streaming service twisted these moments for dramatic effect, all in a bid to feed an already intense media storm surrounding his name.

He further expressed disappointment that creative control of the project was given to Curtis Jackson, better known as 50 Cent, whom he described as a long standing rival with a personal agenda. To Combs, entrusting his life story to someone who has publicly criticised him for years was a deep and unnecessary betrayal, especially coming from an organisation he believed would handle his story with fairness.

Despite Combs’s objections, Zoyols Blog learned that the filmmakers maintained they secured all necessary rights and handled the project legally. Director Alexandria Stapleton said the production includes intimate moments captured just six days before Combs’s arrest. She noted that attempts were made to contact Combs’s team for comment but no response was received.

The documentary offers a close look at Combs in the days leading up to his indictment. In one scene, filmed in a New York City hotel room in September 2024, he speaks candidly with his lawyer about the mounting pressure. He reflects on the fight ahead of him and expresses fear that public perception may already have turned against him, despite his attorney’s reassurance that he has handled the situation with honour.

Six days after that footage was recorded, Combs was indicted in the Southern District of New York on charges including racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation for purposes of prostitution. The series follows this trajectory in detail, charting the highs of his music career alongside the serious accusations now confronting him.

Sean Combs The Reckoning aims to present a comprehensive view of his rise and the controversies that have shaped recent years, even as Combs continues to challenge the documentary’s motives and methods.
