Nigeria Boxing Federation President Wale Edun has dismissed recent claims by members of the former Nigeria Boxing Board of Control as false, warning them to stop spreading misleading information or face legal action.
Edun described reports suggesting that the NBF had reaffirmed the defunct board as the country’s professional boxing authority as completely untrue and intended to mislead the public. He said Remi Aboderin and others met him earlier to discuss challenges with international boxing bodies but were directed to the federation’s professional arm, NBF-Pro.
The federation stressed that such actions only confirm why international boxing organizations have distanced themselves from the group’s activities. Vice President Omonlei Imadu commended Edun for his leadership and ongoing reforms in Nigerian boxing, noting that his support has been key to the progress made so far.
