Cybersecurity expert Professor Adewale Obadare has urged Nigerian banks and fintech companies to stay ahead of AI-powered cyberattacks, noting that the threat has become more sophisticated globally.
Speaking in Lagos, he explained that attackers are now using artificial intelligence to move faster than traditional defenses can respond. While this is not limited to Nigeria, local financial institutions must become more proactive in protecting their systems.
Professor Obadare, who founded Digital Encode, said the firm recently launched DEPAS AI, a fully autonomous penetration testing platform designed to continuously scan and secure enterprise networks. The tool combines artificial intelligence with human oversight to identify vulnerabilities in real time and map how attackers could exploit them.
He noted that recent global reports show a sharp rise in AI-enabled breaches, with higher costs compared to traditional attacks. DEPAS AI aims to help organizations detect, prioritize, and fix risks before criminals can take advantage of them.
