Four Killed in Gaza as Civil Defence Reports Israeli Strikes

zoyolsblog

Gaza’s civil defence agency reported that four people were killed Monday in Gaza City after coming under Israeli fire. The army stated it had targeted militants who crossed a ceasefire line.

The fatalities occurred in two separate incidents in the morning. Mahmud Bassal, spokesman for the Hamas-run rescue service, said the victims were shot “as they were returning to check on their homes in the Al-Shaaf area, east of Al-Tuffah neighborhood in eastern Gaza City.”

Israel’s military explained that its forces fired at militants who crossed the so-called “Yellow Line” near Shujaiya, a neighborhood adjacent to Al-Tuffah. The Yellow Line marks the boundary behind which Israeli troops remain stationed under the terms of the US-brokered ceasefire with Hamas.

Since the truce began on October 10, a series of clashes have erupted along this boundary, resulting in the deaths of around 80 people, according to Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry. Tensions escalated again on Sunday when Israel struck dozens of Hamas positions following the killing of two Israeli soldiers, accusing the group of violating the truce. Hamas denied involvement in any attack, with an official claiming Israel was using “pretexts” to justify renewed military action.

Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have been returning to northern Gaza since the ceasefire, often finding their homes reduced to rubble, a stark reminder of the conflict’s enduring toll.
