The Federal Road Safety Corps has commended Dangote Cement Plc for what it described as a remarkable improvement in road safety performance, following the company’s introduction of strengthened transport safety policies and operational reforms across its logistics network.
According to the Corps, there has been a noticeable drop in road crashes involving articulated trucks linked to the company, a development it attributes to the consistent implementation of safety driven initiatives within Dangote Cement’s transport operations.
This was disclosed during a visit to the FRSC Headquarters, where the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, praised the company for setting what he called a new standard in transport safety management. He also encouraged continued commitment to practices that are gradually reshaping Nigeria’s road transport system.
He noted that comparative data between 2025 and 2026 shows a significant improvement in safety outcomes. The figures indicate a reduction of about fifty six percent in road crashes involving Dangote Cement trucks, alongside a thirty six percent drop in fatalities and a fifty two percent decrease in injuries.
The Corps Marshal described these results as evidence of the company’s effective safety strategy, particularly its use of detailed gap analysis and strict internal monitoring systems. He added that the progress recorded by Dangote Cement stands as a model for other logistics operators across Nigeria and the wider African transport sector.
He further explained that the success of such safety improvements highlights the impact of strong corporate responsibility in the transport industry. According to him, when major operators prioritize safety, the positive effects extend beyond individual companies to the broader road network and public safety system.
Speaking earlier during the visit, the Head of Transport at Dangote Cement, Murilo Silva, outlined some of the company’s ongoing investments in modern transport management solutions. He pointed to the adoption of advanced inspection systems and artificial intelligence based technologies designed to improve both efficiency and safety across its fleet operations.
The company’s approach, he noted, is part of a wider effort to integrate innovation into logistics management while maintaining strict safety standards for drivers, vehicles, and road users.
