UCL Final: Gabriel Speaks After Penalty Heartbreak vs PSG

Zoyols News

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has opened up on his disappointment following the club’s painful UEFA Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint Germain on Saturday night, a match decided by penalties after a tense and closely fought encounter.

The Gunners had started brightly in the final, taking the lead through Kai Havertz and looking set for a famous European triumph. Their advantage, however, did not last as PSG gradually fought their way back into the contest.

The turning point came when Ousmane Dembele levelled from the penalty spot after Cristhian Mosquera was penalised for a foul on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia inside the box. From that moment, the game remained tight and stretched all the way into extra time, with neither side able to find a winning goal.

With the score still level after 120 minutes, the final went to a penalty shootout. Arsenal’s hopes suffered a major setback when Eberechi Eze failed to convert his attempt, followed by Gabriel Magalhaes also missing the club’s fifth penalty, a moment that ultimately handed PSG the advantage.

Shortly after the defeat, Gabriel took to Instagram to share his emotions and thank supporters for their unwavering backing throughout the season. He described the loss as painful but expressed pride in the team’s overall performance across the campaign.

In his message, he wrote that despite the disappointment, the group had achieved a lot together and deserved recognition for their efforts. He also appreciated the fans for sticking with the team from start to finish and encouraged them to celebrate the journey they had shared.

Gabriel added that he remains motivated and already focused on what comes next, ending his message with a promise to return stronger when the new season begins.
