Why I Had to Let My Ex Go – Rema

Zoyols News

Nigerian music sensation Divine Ikubor, better known to fans worldwide as Rema, has opened up about the breakdown of his last romantic relationship, citing a toxic and manipulative environment as the reason for the split.

The Afrobeats star shared these rare insights during a candid conversation on YouTuber Korty EO’s channel, shedding light on the private struggles that contrast sharply with his high-profile career. Rema described the relationship as a mix of beautiful moments and intense psychological strain. He explained that the romance ultimately crumbled because it lacked the peace he desperately needed outside of the spotlight.

For a global artist constantly under the scrutiny of the public eye, home is supposed to be a sanctuary. However, Rema revealed that his former partner often brought chaos instead of comfort, turning his safe space into another source of stress. He noted that dealing with external pressures from the music industry was exhausting enough, but returning home to face emotional manipulation and additional tension became unsustainable.

The singer admitted that he stayed as long as he could, trying to navigate the turbulent dynamics, but eventually reached his breaking point when the excesses became too much to tolerate. Realizing that the partnership was draining rather than fulfilling, he made the conscious decision to walk away.

Reflecting on his current state of mind, the hitmaker made it clear that he has closed that chapter of his life for good. He emphasized that he is currently prioritizing his peace of mind and is done with the drama, choosing to focus his energy elsewhere for the foreseeable future.
