Enyimba’s Ufere Gets Real About a Brutal NPFL Season

Zoyols News

Enyimba midfielder Chinedu Ufere has opened up about the grueling roller-coaster ride that defined the club’s recent Nigeria Premier Football League campaign, candidly admitting that the 2025-26 season tested the heavyweights like never before.

For a club of Enyimba’s stature, traditionally accustomed to fighting for silverware at the top of the table, the season took an unexpectedly dark turn. The People’s Elephant found themselves entangled in an unprecedented survival battle, only securing their safety and escaping relegation on the very final day of the season.

Reflecting on the turbulent months, Ufere confessed that the threat of dropping out of the top flight was a terrifyingly real prospect that shook the entire squad. He noted that at one point, it genuinely felt as though the club was on the brink of going down. It was a scenario none of them had envisioned or planned for when the season kicked off, serving as a harsh reminder of how unpredictable football can be.

The midfielder credited the ultimate survival to a collective refusal to give up. Ufere praised the coaches, backroom staff, players, and the club’s loyal supporters for showing immense character and fighting spirit when everything was on the line.

Despite the immense pressure and the psychological weight of watching a giant of Nigerian football falter, Ufere expressed deep pride in his teammates. He lauded their unwavering commitment, noting that they stayed focused and stepped up during the darkest moments of the campaign.

Looking ahead, the midfielder is confident that this near-catastrophe will serve as a massive wake-up call. Having survived the drop and emerged stronger from the adversity, Ufere believes the lessons learned will fuel a massive resurgence, promising fans a far better and much more stable campaign next term.
