Opposition parties in Akwa Ibom have joined forces with members of the ruling party to endorse President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno for re-election in 2027.
Stakeholders from the PDP, NDC, and APC in the Akwa Ibom North-west Senatorial District met in Ikot Ekpene and unanimously threw their weight behind the three leaders. The meeting reviewed their performances and resolved to collapse political structures in support of their second-term bids.
The endorsement, announced in a communique read by Hon. Unyime Idem, followed a motion moved by Senator Emmanuel Ibokessien. It specifically backs Tinubu for a second term as president, Akpabio for another term in the Senate, and Eno for another term as governor.
The development drew attention because it brought together politicians across party lines, including the state PDP chairman. Akpabio, who spoke at the meeting, attributed the cross-party support to the prevailing peace in the state and expressed confidence that the district would deliver full votes for the three candidates in 2027.
Several prominent figures, including former Minister Don Etiebet and retired DIG Udom Ekpoudom, were present at the gathering.
