Nigeria’s beach volleyball team made history by qualifying for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics after winning gold at the African Beach Volleyball Nations Championship in Egypt.
The side defeated Morocco 2-0 in the women’s final to secure the country’s first-ever Olympic berth in the sport.
NSC Director General Bukola Olopade praised Nigeria Volleyball Federation president Musa Nimrod for his steady leadership and thanked Nigeria Customs boss Adewale Adeniyi for his consistent backing of the sport.
Olopade noted that the qualification reflects years of investment and teamwork, adding that beach volleyball now stands as one of Nigeria’s most promising teams for future Olympic success. The win also ended a 16-year wait for the federation.
