Chevron Calls for Clearer Oil and Gas Regulations at PENGASSAN Summit

Zoyols News

Chevron Nigeria Limited has underlined the need for a stronger and more predictable regulatory environment in the country’s oil and gas sector.

Speaking at the PENGASSAN Energy and Labour Summit in Abuja, the company’s Chairman and Managing Director, Jim Swartz, said a clear and efficient regulatory system is key to attracting fresh investment and driving growth.

He noted that while Nigeria is blessed with huge oil and gas reserves, a skilled workforce, and a good location, these advantages can only deliver maximum value when investors have confidence in the rules governing the industry.

Swartz stressed that regulatory certainty after the Petroleum Industry Act has already opened up new opportunities for the company. He pointed to renewed leases, recent exploration activities, and investments in deepwater assets as examples of what steady policy direction can achieve.

The company also highlighted the importance of safety, workforce development, and collaboration between government, labour, and industry players. It said forums like the summit help align stakeholders on shared goals and build the skills needed for the future of the sector.
