Actress and former Big Brother Naija housemate Eriata Ese has advised women not to respond to betrayal in relationships by cheating on their partners.
Speaking in a video shared on her Instagram page and monitored by Zoyols News, the Nollywood star said revenge cheating only adds more emotional pain instead of bringing healing or peace of mind.
According to her, many women remain faithful and committed in their marriages yet still face heartbreak and betrayal. She, however, warned against listening to people who encourage women to cheat back as a way of getting even.
Eriata explained that such actions do not provide closure. Rather, they keep women trapped in the same emotional hurt caused by their partners and can also slow down the healing process.
She further stated that women who refuse to properly heal after heartbreak may continue attracting the wrong kind of partners because they are unable to identify warning signs in new relationships.
The actress encouraged women to focus on becoming better versions of themselves instead of seeking revenge. She stressed the importance of emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual growth, while advising them to choose partners who genuinely love, respect, and value them.
In her words, women should let go of relationships that can no longer be fixed instead of damaging themselves emotionally by cheating in return.
A few weeks ago, Eriata also reacted to criticism directed at women who choose to have children outside marriage. The reality TV star said society often sends mixed messages to women in their 30s by pressuring them to have children and later condemning them for doing so without marriage.
She added that even when such women later find love, people still question their choices and make hurtful comments about their relationships.
The actress previously got into a heated exchange with a social media user after stating that marriage should not be treated as the ultimate achievement in life. During the exchange, she questioned what many people had truly gained simply because they possessed a marriage certificate.
After facing backlash over the comment, Eriata later clarified her position in another post. She explained that she was raised in a loving family and fully understands the value of a good marriage and family life.
According to her, only someone who has experienced emotional damage would claim that a healthy and loving marriage is not something worth admiring.
