FUNAAB Awards 104 First-Class Degrees in 4,141-Student Convocation

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has proudly celebrated the achievements of its students, awarding 104 first-class bachelor’s degrees during its 33rd convocation, which saw a total of 4,141 students graduate across various disciplines.

Among the graduands, 69 students successfully completed the Part-time Degree Programme, while 1,771 earned Second-Class Upper Division degrees, 1,896 received Second-Class Lower Division, 285 graduated with Third-Class, and two students were awarded Pass degrees. Additionally, 41 students received the Veterinary Medicine degree, which is unclassified.

Speaking at a press briefing, Vice Chancellor Prof. Olusola Babtunde Kehinde highlighted the university’s growth, noting that six new undergraduate programmes, accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in the 2024/2025 session, have been launched, bringing the total number of academic programmes to 44 and expanding the university’s departments to 55.

At the postgraduate level, FUNAAB is awarding 49 Postgraduate Diplomas, 164 Master’s degrees, and 89 Ph.D. qualifications, reflecting its commitment to advanced learning and research.

Prof. Kehinde described the convocation as more than an academic ceremony, emphasizing its role in celebrating resilience, innovation, and leadership. “We release these accomplished individuals into the world as a new generation of visionary leaders, skilled professionals, and changemakers. Graduation is a testament to triumph over challenges, the pursuit of dreams, and the start of new horizons,” he said.

The ceremony brought together students, families, and faculty, marking a vibrant celebration of achievement and the university’s continuing legacy of excellence.
