GATC: Nigeria is Finally Restructuring and Fixing the Economy

Zoyols

The Global Alliance for Tinubu Campaign (GATC) has come out to defend the federal government’s track record, stating that the current administration is actively listening to the demands of Nigerians through a series of bold reform initiatives. According to the political interest group, the government is not only tackling the country’s security challenges but is also making significant headway in the long-standing debate over restructuring and the devolution of power.

During an inaugural press briefing in Abuja, the Director-General of GATC, Prince Bevis Paul Igbinoba, highlighted what he described as landmark achievements since President Tinubu took office 33 months ago. Speaking to Zoyols  and other media outlets, Igbinoba argued that the president is taking a holistic approach to fixing the nation. He emphasized that what Nigeria needs at this juncture is not a change in leadership, but rather the continuity and consolidation of the progress already set in motion.

One of the major points raised by the group was the shift toward local government autonomy and energy sector decentralization. Igbinoba noted that the president has made monumental moves to ensure local governments can operate independently. Furthermore, the previous system where the federal government held total control over energy distribution has been broken, allowing states to begin generating and distributing their own power. On the security front, he pointed out that the push for state police is already before the National Assembly, with hopes for a resolution by the end of the year.

Addressing the economic landscape, the GATC leadership shared several statistics with Zoyols to back their claims of growth. They cited an increase in crude oil production to over 1.5 million barrels per day and a rise in Nigeria’s GDP to over 3 percent. The group also mentioned that the removal of the fuel subsidy has led to a significant jump in government revenue, which has increased monthly federal allocations to states and introduced special intervention funds. This financial boost, they claimed, has enabled many state governments to pay salaries without resorting to heavy borrowing.

The briefing also touched on social and infrastructural investments, including the student loan scheme for indigent citizens and a N1 trillion provision in the Bank of Agriculture to support farmers with low-interest loans. While acknowledging that the power sector still faces massive hurdles due to obsolete infrastructure, Igbinoba insisted that the “Renewed Hope Agenda” is a genuine rescue package for the country. To show their commitment, the Global Alliance for Tinubu Campaign announced a goal to mobilize at least five million votes to secure a second term for the president in the 2027 elections.
