Gift Orban continued his impressive start to the Turkish Super Lig season on Sunday night, scoring three goals as Amedspor cruised to a 5 0 victory over Istanbul Başakşehir.
The Nigerian forward produced a second half masterclass at the Seyrantepe Spor Kompleksi Stadyumu 1, finding the net three times to complete a memorable individual performance for the home side.
Orban put Amedspor 2 0 ahead seven minutes after the restart when he rose to meet Furkan Soyalp’s cross and directed his header into the bottom corner.
Just two minutes later, the former Hellas Verona striker struck again. He finished off a quick counter attack after receiving a well placed pass from Ermal Krasniqi, calmly finding the net from close range.
Orban completed his hat trick with 15 minutes remaining, once again benefiting from Krasniqi’s delivery to put the finishing touch to a dominant display.
The three goals moved Orban to six league goals for the campaign, putting him level with Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen on the Turkish Super Lig scoring chart.
Since joining Amedspor on loan during the summer transfer window, Orban has made a strong impression, scoring six goals and providing one assist in five league appearances.
The Nigerian has scored against Trabzonspor, Kasimpasa and Istanbul Başakşehir, quickly establishing himself among the league’s most in form forwards.
Osimhen had also made a strong start to the season, scoring six goals and providing two assists in four appearances before a hamstring injury interrupted his campaign.
Orban will now hope to maintain his scoring form as he pushes for a return to the Super Eagles squad ahead of the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Mozambique and Guinea Bissau.
