Google has unveiled 15 promising artificial intelligence startups from across Africa for the latest edition of its Google for Startups Accelerator Africa, underscoring the continent’s growing focus on building sustainable and commercially successful technology businesses.
The selected startups come from Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Angola. They represent a wide range of industries, including financial technology, healthcare, agriculture, mobility and software services, where artificial intelligence is increasingly being used to solve everyday challenges.
The startups recently completed the three month hybrid accelerator programme, demonstrating strong business performance and growing market acceptance. Around 60 percent of the participating companies are already operating profitably, recording average monthly revenues of about 60,000 dollars while attracting an average of 1.1 million dollars in funding.
The companies showcased their innovations during the 2026 Close Out Week and Demo Day held in Nairobi, where they presented AI powered solutions designed to improve access to financial services, strengthen logistics, expand healthcare delivery and support agricultural productivity.
Throughout the programme, which ran from March to June, participants received technical support, mentorship from Google’s global engineering teams and access to the company’s advanced technologies to help them refine their products and expand their businesses.
Google’s Managing Director for Africa, Alex Okosi, praised the startups for applying artificial intelligence to address practical challenges affecting communities across the continent.
He said Google remains encouraged by the innovative ways African entrepreneurs are using AI to solve real world problems, adding that the accelerator continues to provide equity free support to help promising businesses grow.
Among the startups selected for the programme are Kenya’s Coamana, Duck, ReportsAI and VunaPay, which are focused on addressing critical infrastructure challenges. Tanzania’s Safiri is developing technology solutions for the transport and tourism sectors.
The cohort also features Anda Africa from Angola, Bani, MasteryHive AI, Regxta and Termii from Nigeria, Emaisha Pay from Uganda, Loop and Vambo AI from South Africa, Maad from Senegal and Meditect from Côte d’Ivoire.
Since launching the accelerator in 2018, Google has supported more than 190 startups across 17 African countries. Collectively, these companies have secured over 400 million dollars in investment, created more than 3,500 jobs and benefited from over 11 million dollars in equity free funding and product credits provided through the programme.
