The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Dr. Ekperikpe Ekpo, has reiterated the Federal Government’s firm commitment to the development of the Brass Gas Projects, describing them as a major step toward Nigeria’s industrial growth through gas utilisation.
Speaking during a two-day All-Party Stakeholders Workshop on the Brass Projects held in Abuja, Ekpo explained that the initiative which includes the Brass Methanol Plant, Gas Processing Plant, and the Brass Free Zone Infrastructure will serve as the core of the proposed Brass Oil and Gas City in Bayelsa State.
He noted that the Ministry of Petroleum Resources (Gas) remains dedicated to supporting the project through effective policy direction, regulatory coordination, and stakeholder collaboration. According to him, the government is ensuring that critical frameworks such as gas supply and offtake agreements, licensing processes, and infrastructure integration are made seamless and financially viable to attract investment.
The minister urged participants to focus on practical strategies that would define clear responsibilities, close existing gaps, and produce a realistic roadmap for achieving financial closure and project commencement.
Ekpo emphasized that the success of the Brass Gas Projects would go beyond strengthening Nigeria’s gas industrialisation drive. He said it would also bring significant benefits to the Niger Delta region, including job creation, improved infrastructure, and enhanced economic empowerment for local communities.
Zoyols Blog gathered that the Brass initiative forms part of the Federal Government’s broader plan to harness Nigeria’s abundant gas resources for sustainable national development
