Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has officially relieved the Head of Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, of his duties, effective immediately. This development was confirmed in a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, marking another significant shift in the state’s administrative structure.
The governor explained that this decision is a key component of his administration’s broader strategy to overhaul the state civil service. The goal, according to the official statement, is to cultivate a more efficient, disciplined, and responsive workforce across all government institutions. By bringing in new leadership, the administration aims to accelerate its agenda for improved service delivery to the people of Kano.
In the interim, the affairs of the office are set to transition smoothly. Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, who currently serves as the Permanent Secretary of Administration and General Services at the Cabinet Office, has been appointed to step in as the Acting Head of Service. Musa has been instructed to complete the formal handover process to her by Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
While the change in leadership is immediate, the state government took a moment to acknowledge the outgoing official’s time in office. Governor Yusuf expressed his appreciation for the contributions and dedication shown by Alhaji Musa during his tenure, wishing him the very best in his future professional and personal endeavors. Maimota will continue to serve in the acting capacity until a substantive replacement is named.
