Erling Haaland has paid a heartfelt tribute to Pep Guardiola following the Spaniard’s departure from Manchester City after a decade in charge.
Guardiola, 55, left the club this summer after transforming City into one of the most dominant sides in world football. During his ten years at the helm, he guided the team to 20 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and a historic treble, while maintaining an extraordinary win record across all competitions.
Reflecting on his time under the former manager, Haaland described Guardiola as a coach who constantly pushed players to improve, no matter their achievements on the pitch.
He noted that even after major victories and personal milestones like hat tricks, there was always another lesson waiting, another challenge to overcome, and another level to reach. According to him, that mindset helped reshape the club and also had a strong impact on his own development as a player.
The Norwegian striker said working under Guardiola was a privilege he would always value, adding that the manager’s influence made excellence feel like a daily standard rather than an occasional achievement.
Haaland ended his message with appreciation, thanking Guardiola for his guidance and calling him the best he has had the honour to work with.
